Read this before you buy — it covers the three things people get caught out by. First, there is no power adapter in the box and none is needed: the camera draws power from the bulb holder, so that socket must be switched on whenever you want the camera running. Second, no Wi-Fi router or internet connection is included — you need your own working 2.4GHz Wi-Fi. This camera does not connect to 5GHz networks, and if your phone is on the 5GHz band during setup the camera will not pair, so switch your phone to the 2.4GHz network first. Third, no memory card is included — if you want the camera to record and store footage locally, buy a card separately. Check the listing images to confirm the socket fitting and the card size the camera supports before you order one. It is also an indoor camera — keep it out of rain, steam and direct sun.

- Switch the power off at the mains before screwing the camera into or out of a socket, and let an adult do the fitting. Never install it with the switch live.
- Confirm the socket type matches the camera fitting before ordering, and do not force it into a holder it does not thread into cleanly.
- Know the law before you install it. Recording people without their knowledge can be unlawful. Never place a camera in a bathroom, toilet, changing area or a bedroom used by anyone other than yourself, and tell household staff, tenants, guests and employees that a camera is present.
- Change the default password immediately after setup and use a strong, unique one. Cameras left on factory passwords are routinely found and accessed by strangers.
- Keep the app and firmware updated, and disable remote access if you stop using the camera.
- Indoor use only, in a dry sheltered socket. Do not fit it outdoors, in a bathroom, or anywhere exposed to rain, steam or direct sunlight.
- Do not fit it into a damaged, loose or overheating socket, and switch it off during electrical storms.
- The camera needs the socket switched on to work. Anyone flipping that switch off turns the camera off — bear this in mind when choosing where to fit it.
- This is a monitoring aid, not a substitute for supervising children, elderly relatives or pets in person.
